What are Ward Chairs and Precinct Chairs?
What is a Ward?
Wards are based on the geographic area of New Mexico State House of Representatives Districts.
Find your House District. Go to the NM Secretary of State to get your Voter Registration Information.
What is a Ward Chair?
Bernalillo Ward Chairs lead their Ward Committees to administer the affairs of the Republican Party with in the County. Ward Chairs are elected at the Ward Caucus for a term of two years or if appointed by the chairman due to a vacancy; until the next Ward Caucus, whichever comes sooner.
What is a Precinct?
Wards are broken down into smaller geographical areas called Precincts. There are multiple Precincts assigned to each Ward. Bernalillo Ward Chairs are only responsible for Precincts in Bernalillo County.
What is a Precinct Chair?
Each Precinct should also have a Precinct chair that reports to the Ward Chair. This breaks the Ward down to a manageable size.
